travelling is an art
At the heart of the Tea Horse Road
THE MISSION LIOTARD based in Shangri-la, in the province of Yunnan in China, on the border with Tibet, aims to promote the development of the peoples living in the heart of the magnificent landscapes of the foothills of the Himalayas. It offers to its guests the discovery of the untouched nature and authentic cultures while respecting local resources and populations.

The last horizons
SINCE 2010 we have been offering immersive and adventurous expeditions in a remote region in the beautiful Yunnan Province of China. The theatrical and truly unique expeditions have been born from the French writer Constantin de Slizewicz. His inspiration to create such an unforgettable travel experience has been famously based in the mythic city of Shangri-la.
In the mountains, following in the footsteps of our horse caravans, through a farm experience in rural Tibet, into a unique landscape where events are celebrated, and even, for the boldest of the bold, embarking on a bushcraft adventure… Mission Liotard offers unforgettable experiences in and around our very own Shangri-La :

The gateway to the Himalayas
OUR BASE THE BREATHTAKING SHANGRI-LA refers directly to the novel Lost Horizon, published in 1933 by the writer James Hilton. In his novel, Hilton describes Shangri-la as a hidden and inaccessible valley in the heart of the Himalaya Mountains, nestled between the two largest rivers in Asia.

seasons
The climate of the highlands is very different according to the season, which is why it is not possible to organize caravans all year long.
We are closed from December to February. The best moments are spring and autumn.
